Puppy grooming is an important part of early development, helping young dogs grow into confident, relaxed adults who feel safe being handled throughout their lives.
Gentle, positive sessions teach puppies that being brushed, bathed, dried and touched around sensitive areas like their paws, ears and face is normal. This early introduction prevents fear and anxiety later on, as older dogs who haven’t experienced grooming before often find the sounds and sensations overwhelming.
Regular puppy grooming also supports healthy skin and coat development by keeping the coat clean, reducing tangles and allowing early detection of any issues. Just as importantly, puppies learn the small skills that make future grooms calm and safe — standing steadily, staying still briefly and understanding what’s expected of them. By the time they reach six months, the ideal age for their first full haircut, they already know the environment and routine, making their first proper groom a positive experience.
We offer two routes for puppies, depending on what suits you and your dog best.
One-Off Puppy Grooms
A gentle introduction to grooming, with the aim of doing as much as your puppy is comfortable with on the day. We never push a puppy beyond their limits – the focus is on confidence building and safe handling.
A puppy groom includes:
Warm bath with gentle puppy shampoo
Light blow-dry using low-noise dryers
Brushing and comb-out to get them used to handling
Nail clipping
Ear & eye cleaning
Hygiene tidy (feet, face, bum)
Lots of praise, treats, and calm handling
Age-based pricing: 3 months: £30 4 months: £40 5 months: £50 6 months+: Standard full groom price (e.g., £60 for a small Cockapoo)
The Puppy Package (Five Visits)
Five structured visits that gradually build your puppy’s confidence and skills, spaced out up to the six-month stage. This prepares them beautifully for their first full groom at six months – the age most groomers recommend for a proper haircut.
Each visit builds on the last:
Visit 1: Gentle introductions to us and the salon environment – sights, sounds, smells, cuddles and praise. Visit 2: Everything from Visit 1 plus light brushing. Visit 3: Everything from before plus a bath and blow-dry. Visit 4: Everything from before plus a tidy of the face, hygiene areas and paws. Visit 5: Puppy’s first full haircut, styled exactly how you’d like.
Total price: £140 (equivalent to £28 per visit)
